Hey hey you lovely humans 🥰 I hope you’re all doing really well.
I’ve been experimenting with healthy or healthier baked goods for years now. I’m always trying to find ways to eliminate or at least reduce the amount of sugar and / or not-so-good-for-you ingredients.
One way to do this is to use mashed bananas in baked goods. I’ve shared many difference recipes used ripe bananas to sweeten foods (recipes linked below) but this time, I thought I’d try something new. Baking with bananas has a lot of benefits but the end result does tend to have a very banana-forward flavor, which is great when you’re making banana bread but maybe not as great when attempting different treats.
Banana Recipes:

Apples feel very Autumn appropriate so what better time to share the simplest sweetener than now? MANY recipes using applesauce will be coming soon (I already have so many in the works), but, before I share any, I thought it best to share the easiest, fool proof method of making the perfect healthy applesauce.

What you’ll need:
Apples (any variety or a mix)
Water
Cinnamon stick (optional)
Cup measure
Sauce pan
Method:
Add 1 cup water to 2 cup of peeled and chopped apples to a sauce pan and cook on medium to low heat on the stove until the apples are super tender and start falling apart, approx 30-35 minutes. Once cooked, remove cinnamon stick (if using) and mash using a fork or potato masher.
As I mentioned, I will be sharing many recipes using applesauce as a sweetener and / or egg replacement; but in the meantime, if you’d like to use this delicious applesauce, add it to your oats or top your plane yoghurt with it – it’s absolutely delish!
I’m not really a big apple fan, there are so many other fruits I’d reach for before choosing an apple, but cooking them like this makes them a thousand times better in my opinion.

That’s it from me for today – I’ll be back with a new blog post Every Single week 🙂
